04 Apr News editor, staff writer, editorial assistant and apprentices wanted!

We’re on the look-out for a host of new writing talent to join the team here at Baize Group.

Working for Blackball Media you’ll be producing content for our award-winning publications – like Car Dealer and Workshop Magazine – as well as writing for prestigious motoring portals like the Press Association and MSN.

We’ve got some incredibly exciting new projects coming up and need some talented new writers to join our team.

You’ll be expected to travel the world trying the latest cars and attending motor shows and filing back the best copy. Even our apprentices travel to cover events for our outlets!

You’ll be full of great feature ideas of cool things to do with the most exciting cars. And feel just at home testing a Hyundai i10 against its main rivals as you would slotting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Aventador.

You will always want to be first with the news, know instinctively how to take a story on to the next level and will be a stickler for detail, accuracy and perfect prose.

Motoring knowledge is preferred, but for the right journalist with the right skills we’re willing to guide them in this field – first and foremost we want excellent writers.

We’re looking for:

News Editor – a senior writer from an established motoring publication or similar position in a newspaper, looking for a step up the career ladder. They will be able to take ownership of a publication and help organise a team of writers to produce the best content.

Staff writer – aimed at experienced writers who are already working on a motoring publication or a newspaper column writing about cars. This could be a chance to further your career in a rapidly expanding business.

Editorial Assistant – are you looking for your first step on the ladder into the world of motoring journalism after university? This is where it could begin.

Motoring Journalism Apprentices – we’ve teamed up with Highbury College to offer those fresh out of school or college the chance to join the bustling world of car journalism at the very beginning. Full training is given as part of the official apprenticeship.

The roles are all full time and based in our offices in sunny Gosport.

We offer 25 days holiday a year, a company bonus scheme, a sabbatical after five years’ service, access to a discounted onsite gym and canteen, and you’ll get to live by the sea.

To apply, answer the questions below in a sparkling covering email and send us your CV to jobs@blackballmedia.co.uk.

  1. We’re giving you £25,000 to spend on a used saloon what would you buy? And why?
  2. We want you to buy a classic car – what model would it be and why? And we want it to appreciate.
  3. We’re looking for a cool car feature and money is no object. What would you do and why?

The closing date is April 20. If you have a digital portfolio we’d love to see it or any pieces of work you’re exceptionally proud of.
